Our Senior Art Director Gisella wins Yard Makeover on DIY Network!

Two weeks after their wedding Dave and Gisella Klekamp purchased their “new” 1940s home in the heart of Atlanta! The only problem, it needed some fixing up. After 18 months of non-stop work renovating, exhausted and in need of help they decided to enter to win a yard makeover from DIY Network. The name of the show “Desperate Landscapes” was the perfect description for their sad yard. After a hilarious competition on NBC’s TODAY Show they won their much needed prize. DIY team was able to help Dave and Gisella put the finishing touches on their remodeling process. The rain was pouring down, but that didn’t stop the fun. The end results? A beautiful yard for Dave and Gisella’s dream home. Check it out!

ADRENALINE Brings Sizzle to Restaurant Brand

ADRENALINE launches a raw and respectable street food brand for new Atlanta Restaurant – INC Street Food.

The owners of INC Street Food wanted to rethink and re-envision the succulent Latin street food experience. They wanted to bring the mouth-watering tastes traditionally sold on the streets of South America into a more appetizing environment.

The restaurateurs collaborated with ADRENALINE on the essence of the restaurant’s brand and design, working to balance street with casual dining. ADRENALINE brought their vision for the restaurant to life through an enticing logo and the rollout of brand imagery, collateral and web site design.

“It needed to scream ‘street,’ while maintaining a quality that could be successfully paired with a restaurant,” said Courtney Flanegan, ADRENALINE’s Senior Art Director. “We embodied the edgy, grunge-like feel of a ‘street environment’ in the logo, as well as a rough, aged metal imagery in various pieces inspired by food trucks seen in South America.”

Visuals in the restaurant and on the web site play to the landscapes of a street scene, with bold, multi-colored graffiti murals. Cuisine is prepped in the front shell of a converted food truck with an over-sized, open serving window built into the front of the kitchen. The luscious smells of Salvadoran Chicken Pupusa, BBQ Veal Cheek and Braised Beef season the atmosphere and prepare customers for a feast.

Brand, place and culture all intersect at INC Street Food to lull customers into a full-on sensory experience.

Check out the INC Street Food website.

Value is the New Black: 10 Trends for 2010

I came across some well-stated wisdom in this article from the MediaPostNEWS “Marketing Daily” commentary.  Expanding on the cost-driven, hard-sell, awareness-saturated consumer we’ve come to know, Passikoff highlights the need to compete authentically and intelligently in a highly informed, value-driven market.  Differentiation is crucial, reputation follow-through vital, and expectations higher than ever.  Whether shaped by advertising in whatever media, social media connections, user-generated blog forums, or the in-store experience…the key to consumer hearts lies in veritable brand engagement.  Better stated by the author, “Engagement is not a fad; it’s the way today’s consumers do business” …

Top 10: Web Design Resources

Here is a list of the ten resources I use most often when designing and developing for the web.

1. Smashing Magazine – This is a great source for design inspiration, how-to’s, best practices, and informative articles about all aspects of design. I often visit Smashing Mag to browse collections of different web elements, like search bars, navigation, or footers, and collections of sites with well-executed design.

2. Colour Lovers – Colour Lovers is a huge collection of user-submitted colors and color palettes. Whenever I need inspiration for color schemes, this is the first place I visit. There are tons of unique and out-of-the-box palettes.

3. Pattern Tap – Whenever I want to see examples and usage of a specific web design element, for example, a web form, I visit Pattern Tap. They have 45 collections of specific design elements, making it a great source for inspiration. Read more
